Anita Thandi, MA, RCC
Anita has been working as a therapist since 2000, having over 20 years of experience. She has worked extensively with individuals as well as couples and families dealing with issues ranging from Depression and Anxiety, relationship conflict, family and parenting as well as trauma and abuse. Anita has also offered educational seminars in the community as well as group sessions on pain management, mindfulness, self-esteem and boundary setting.
Anita has a Master’s Degree from UBC and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. She has continued her professional development in areas such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Depression and Anxiety, Attachment and Trauma, Narrative approaches to therapy and EMDR.
Anita works with clients utilizing aspects of a variety of therapeutic approaches. These include solution focused models, CBT, mindfulness based approaches, expressive therapies and EMDR amongst them.
Anita has worked in a number of settings over the years including health care, community service agencies and intensive crisis management programs. She has offered group workshops in the community and over the years has extensively volunteered with agencies working with domestic violence and abuse, diversity and women’s empowerment.
Anita is also fluent in Punjabi and Hindi and offers counselling in these additional languages.
Anil Baines MA, RCC
Anil Baines is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has been working professionally as a therapist with individuals, couples and families for the past 20 years in South Surrey. When it comes to therapy and counselling, Anil uses a variety of approaches including cognitive, emotion-focused, mindfulness and strength based therapies.
As a therapist of the South Point Counselling Group, Anil works with clients experiencing the following challenges:
- anxiety
- depression
- relationship/family conflict
- addiction
- parenting
- regulating emotions
- grief and loss
- work stress
- life transitions.
Anil is committed to facilitating healthy change in individuals, couples and families. Working collaboratively, Anil helps to identify ways for clients to reach a higher level of awareness and a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with others. Counselling focuses on developing a personalized plan suited for the specific needs of each client. Practicing from a strength based perspective, Anil works with clients to find creative solutions to achieve happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.
Anil has worked in private practice, health care, community settings, and EAP (Employment Assistant Programs), both as a clinician and supervisor.
